Drew University Libraries seek an engaging and user-oriented colleague for the Library Faculty position of Reference and Government Documents Librarian to serve the needs of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty, and to coordinate Drew’s participation in the federal depository system.

Reporting to the Head of Reference and Research Services, the librarian will provide advanced Library services in business, finance and economics, as well as history and political science and will  play an active role in developing and implementing an active instructional program; collaborating with faculty in planning institutional digital scholarship initiatives; serving as a liaison to selected academic departments; participating in the full range of reference services; administering an historically rich state and federal documents collection; and cooperating in creating library-wide initiatives and programs.

The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and collegially, will be committed to providing strong and innovative service to users and will be conversant with current and emerging trends in librarianship and information technology.   


  • Demonstrated familiarity with government documents or information
  • Subject background in business, finance or economics
  • Demonstrated ability to master new technologies
  • Ability to provide a broad array of reference services


  • Experience with instruction on a college level
  • Additional subject background in history or political science
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a collegial environment
  • Familiarity with principles of collection development
  • Record of professional engagement
  • Familiarity with data analysis

Education and Experience:
MLS, MLIS or equivalent advanced library degree required; additional advanced degree desired. 2-5 years of relevant library experience.
