Learner Experience Librarian

Description:

We are now accepting applications for our Learner Experience Librarian position (apply.interfolio.com/47006).  While not a new position at the College of Wooster Libraries, it is newly revised to reflect our changing instructional needs.

The College of Wooster offers an excellent, comprehensive liberal arts education, culminating in a rigorous senior project, in which each student works one-on-one with a faculty mentor to conceive, organize and complete a significant research project on a topic of the student's own choosing. Through this distinctive program, every Wooster student develops abilities valued by employers and graduate schools alike: independent judgment, analytical ability, creativity, project-management and time-management skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls approximately 2,000 students.

I recently accepted the position of Librarian of the College leaving a university librarian position at an R1 institution.  I was attracted to the College of Wooster Libraries due to the distinctiveness of its liberal arts and research-intensive approach to the undergraduate experience.  Almost every senior has a study carrel in one of the three libraries.  Our gate count is one of the highest (15,000/week) for an institution our size as is our circulation of physical materials from our million-volume collection.  Our access to resources via Ohio Five’s consortia catalog and our membership in OhioLink rivals what I had access to at an R1.  Students are focused and engaged in their learning.  The student population is approximately 54% women, 20% domestic students of color, and 13% international students.

We are not seeking someone who is “like us,” or “one of us,” but rather an individual with the knowledge and vision to help us achieve our mission of cultivating “an environment where students, faculty, and staff, as a diverse community of learners, discover, create, communicate, and preserve knowledge and insight.”   For information on how to apply and documents needed for your application, go to apply.interfolio.com/47006.
