Shaping Liberal Arts College Library Collections:  New Models and Active Strategies Workshop on October 15-16, 2008 Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum (Hyde Park, NY) and Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, NY)

The purpose of the meeting was to identify and synthesize best practices in collection development, and to serve as a forum for stimulating, broadening, and advancing the conversation nationally about shaping twenty-first century liberal arts college collections.

Beginning with lunch on October 15th and concluding with lunch on the 16th, the meeting agenda (which is available below) consisted of the following major sessions:

  • Session 1 - Users: Panel of Faculty and Students
  • Session 2 - Panel on Directions for Scholarly Information
  • Session 3 - Discussions on Budgets and Staffing, Challenges and Opportunities, and Architecture of Collections
  • Session 4 - Closing Remarks and Synthesis: Best Practices and Models, Strategies for Local Campus Discussion and Next Steps
